Arflex
Arflex is an Italian company specializing in the production of design furniture, particularly for the living area. Founded under the name Ar-flex (flexible furnishings) it began its successful parabola in Milan back in 1947, on the initiative of Carlo Barassi and Renato Teani, who came from the industrial reality of Pirelli. Together with the other two partners, Pio Reggiani and Aldo Bai, the two entrepreneurs decided to experiment with something new in the furniture sector, using materials at that time unheard of for furniture, such as foam rubber and elastic tape. After only four years, the first models debuted at the IX Milan Triennale, with good success with the public and critics .
The combination of technology and aesthetics are at the heart of the brand's design, which draws from the very beginning on the creativity of designers of the caliber of Marco Zanuso, Franco Albini, Joe Colombo, Cini Boeri, and Carlo Bartoli, who leave a legacy of some truly innovative and still iconic pieces such as the 1965 Gaia armchair, made of polyester resin and fiberglass, and the innovative Serpentone sofa, from 1971, which takes on infinite length with its enveloping shapes.
